Why upgrade?
A watch does not have to stay exactly as it arrived. Changing a strap, bezel or crystal can completely transform the look and feel of a watch, and it is one of the easiest ways to make a piece truly yours.
Here are the upgrades we recommend most often.
Oysterflex-style rubber straps
A rubber strap is the easiest way to change the personality of your watch. It is lighter and more comfortable than a steel bracelet, especially in warm weather, and it gives any watch a sporty, modern look.
Our upgraded straps use a metal core inside the rubber, so they keep their shape and feel solid on the wrist. With a Glidelock-style clasp, you can fine-tune the fit without tools.
Upgraded bracelets
If you prefer steel, a bracelet upgrade can make a big difference to comfort and quality. Look for:
- Solid links, which feel heavier and more solid than folded links
- A quality clasp, ideally with micro-adjustment for the perfect fit
- A clean finish, with brushed and polished surfaces that match the case
Three-link bracelets give a sporty look, while five-link styles feel dressier.
Ceramic bezels and bezel inserts
The bezel is one of the most visible parts of a watch, so changing it has a big impact. Ceramic inserts are highly scratch resistant and keep their colour over time, unlike older aluminium inserts that can fade.
Swapping a bezel insert is also one of the simplest ways to change colourways, for example turning a black dive watch into a blue or green one.
Sapphire crystals
A sapphire crystal is far more scratch resistant than mineral glass. It keeps your dial looking clear and sharp for years, and it is one of the most practical upgrades you can make.
Custom dials and crowns
For a truly personal watch, consider a custom dial or an upgraded crown. A new dial changes the whole character of the watch, while a well-made crown improves how it feels every time you set the time.
